(Northland's NewsCenter) --- Nine players and two coaches with Northland ties have been selected to represent Minnesota on one of two teams in the upcoming Minnesota National Inivitational Tournament.
The annual tournament is a collection of some of the best hockey players in Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, Michigan, and Massachusetts.
Duluth East defenseman Meirs Moore, Hermantown forward Jake Zeleznikar, and Duluth Denfeld forward Alex Thompson and goaltender Zach Thompson will all play on the Minnesota Under-18 team.
Hermantown forward Jared Thomas and defensemen Jared Kolquist and Brian LeBlanc will play for the Minnesota Senior team, along with Grand Rapids defenseman Jordan Stejskal and Cloquet-Esko-Carlton goaltender John Scheuer.
The under-18 team will have Christian Koelling, the UMD director of hockey operations, as one of its coaches, and the senior team will have Bruce Plante, the Hermantown boy's hockey coach, behind its bench for the tournament.
Both teams will begin round robin play on April 20, with championship round games scheduled for April 22.
