2012 WIAA Scholar Athlete Awards

Wisconsin's top 32 high school students in athletics and academics were honored by the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association on Sunday.

17 of this years finalists have a grade point average of 4.0 while the average of the rest of the finalists is a 3.92.

All of the 32 scholar athletes earned a total of 306 letters, an average of nine letters per athlete.

Sarah Porier from Wausau West High School, Katelyn Stine from Wausau East High School, Caitlin Maki from Hurley High School, Stephanie Siroin from Washburn High School and Teagen Harings from Northwood High School were all honored.

Harings was Northwood's first scholar athlete to be recognized.

Superior High School's Jack Bergum and Kelsey Hanse were candidates for the awards, although, they were not state finalists.
