(Northland's NewsCenter) --- The #3-ranked Hermantown boy's hockey team used a three goal second period to skate past #5-ranked Duluth Marshall on Thursday night, winning 5-1 on the road.
The Hawks scored two goals almost immediately following a disallowed goal for the Hilltoppers in the second period, entirely changing the momentum in the game.
From there, it was mostly Hermantown highlights as they improved to (11-0) this season. Duluth Marshall fell to (9-6) with the loss.
SPARTANS HANG TOUGH, BUT #2 HURRICANES TOO MUCH
The Superior girl's hockey team put up a valiant fight against #2-ranked Hayward-Spooner on Thursday, but eventually fell 7-0 at home.
The Hurricanes scored only two goals in the first period, and the Spartans had several scoring chances of their own, but the visiting team eventually proved their high state ranking.
