Northwestern falls in D-2 final

The Northwestern Tigers bid for a state championship came to a disappointing ending on Saturday. The Tigers, ranked 14th in Division Two, fell to #1 Catholic Memorial 60-48.

The Tigers trailed 27-20 at halftime, but regained the lead, thanks to a 13-2 run to take a 33-31 lead late in the third quarter. However, Catholic Memorial outscored the Tigers 29-15 for the remainder of the game.

Donnie Hissa led Northwestern with 18 points. Steve Tecker had 14 points, while Lee Brown added 7 points. Northwestern finishes the season at (24-5).

Hissa was named first team All-State in Division 2.

Catholic Memorial's T.J. Bray, who was named Mr. Basketball, had 20 points and 12 rebounds. Memorial's Derek Schell scored a game-high 21 points.
