BEST's Eisenhuth Leading Charge in Class A Boys Golf Tournament

Becker, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Babbitt-Emabarrass-Soudan-Tower (BEST) freshman Sam Eisenhuth topped Northland finishers in the MSHSL Class A boys golf tournament Wednesday, shooting a first day total of 73.

That score puts Eisenhuth into a tie for first place with the second and final round coming on Thursday morning.

Other BEST finishers were senior Kory Shelerud (82), sophomore Nick Langevin (10), senior Scott Solberg (101), and sophomore Jack Vraa (103).

BEST was the lone Northland team competing in the tournament, firing a first day total of 346 to put them in fifth place.

Other athletes from the Northland were Ely senior Nick Milovich, who shot 84, Cook-Orr senior Mike Mankus, who shot 89, and Mesabi East senior Tyler Lund, who shot 99 on the first day.

The MSHSL Class A boys golf tournament will continue Thursday morning at Pebble Creek golf course in Becker.

THREE LOCALS IN TOP 10 OF CLASS AA BOYS TOURNEY

Three Northland golfers cracked the top 10 in the first day of competition at the MSHSL Class AA boys golf tournament.

International Falls' Jeff Shermoen and Glenn Walls, along with Virginia's Olaf Walkky, shot a 73 on Wednesday morning to put them all in a tie for seventh place with one round remaining.

Hermantown topped the Northland teams on the first day, finishing in fifth place with a team score of 311.

The Class AA boys tournament will continue Thursday morning at Ridges at Sand Creek golf course in Jordan.

FOWLER FINISHES 60TH IN CLASS AAA BOYS TOURNEY

Grand Rapids junior Austin Fowler finished his second and final round in the MSHSL Class AAA boys golf tournament tied for 60th place.

Fowler fired a first day score of 82 followed by a second day score of 81 to finish with a 19-over-par 163 for the tournament.

The Class AAA boys state champion, Max Kelly of Forest Lake, shot a two day total of 143.
