Cherry Stays Unbeaten, Advances to Class A Semis

Mankato, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The Cherry softball team won a battle of unbeatens on Thursday afternoon, beating Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg 3-2 to advance to the MSHSL Class A semifinals.

Senior Shaina Novak pitched a complete game for the Tigers, striking out 12 batters while allowing only two hits.

Kirsten Lahti and DeAnn Bjerklie each had a run batted in for Cherry, which improves to (24-0) with the win.

The Tigers advance to the Class A semifinals against New Life Academy of Woodbury, with that game set for 8:00 p.m. on Thursday in Mankato.
