(NNCNOW.com) --- The Cloquet volleyball team was trying to earn its first ever trip to the state tournament on Saturday afternoon but fell short of doing so 3-1 against defending section champion Mora at Duluth Denfeld High School.

The Lumberjacks took game one but the Mustangs went on to take the next three and the match.

In Section 7A, top-seeded Carlton swept McGregor 3-0. The Bulldogs haven't been to state since 2004.

In Section 7AAAA, Grand Rapids outlasted Cambridge-Isanti 3-2. The Thunderhawks are headed to the big dance for the first time since 1996.
