Cloquet, Hibbing to Meet for 7AA Title

Cloquet, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Cloquet and Hibbing were the lowest seeds to reach the Section 7AA softball final four, but those are the two teams that remain in the hunt for the section championship.

Cloquet first beat Proctor 11-8 and then took down Hibbing 6-2 to advance as the unbeaten team to the title round, that after beating four-time defending section champion Hermantown 2-1 in the quarterfinals.

Hibbing, meanwhile, beat Virginia 4-1 before falling to Cloquet and then defeated Proctor 21-8 to advance to the championship in the double-elimination format.

The Bluejackets will need to beat Cloquet twice on May 31 in order to claim the section crown, while the Lumberjacks will only require one win to earn a trip to the Class AA state tournament.

Below are listed all results from Tuesday in the Section 7AA bracket, which enters a double-elimination format for the final four teams.

Cloquet def. Proctor 11-8
Hibbing def. Virginia 4-1
Cloquet def. Hibbing 6-2
Proctor def. Virginia 8-3
Hibbing def. Proctor 21-8

The championship game will be played at 4:00 p.m. on May 31 in Cloquet, with a second game immediately following if necessary. A full Section 7AA softball bracket can be viewed at the
