Superior, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Superior opens the 2012 football season this upcoming Friday, and head coach Bob DeMeyer said that his team is starting to take shape after two weeks of preseason practices.

"We have a much better idea after the scrimmage down in Rice Lake," DeMeyer said. "We've got kids in the right positions now. We just have to get good, quality reps and just get better at what we're doing. It's been just a fantastic preseason. We've talked about a lot of character things and chemistry issues. I really like the way things are coming together."

The Spartans travel to Rhinelander on August 24 to open the season, with that game scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. start. Superior won its first three games a year ago, but then the team faltered down the stretch to finish with a (3-6) overall record.
