Jordan, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Deer River senior Luke Benson hit a two-run home run in the first inning, but the Warriors saw that lead evaporate in a 7-4 loss in the MSHSL Class A boys baseball tournament.
Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial scored six runs from the fourth inning on, sending the Knights to a win in the quarterfinal contest.
Eythan Stangland went the full seven innings on the mound for Deer River, allowing only two earned runs on eight hits while striking out nine.
The Warriors outhit the Knights 9-8, but left five runners on base in the loss.
Bryce Lyytinen was 2-for-2 in the game with a RBI, while Stangland also added two hits and scored a run for Deer River.
The Warriors will now move to the Class A consolation bracket, and will play New York Mills on Friday morning in Shakopee.
