Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The Duluth Denfeld swimming and diving team has a new home for the 2012 season, that being a new competitive pool at Lincoln Park Middle School in Duluth.
The Hunters had been practicing and hosting competitions at Morgan Park Middle School, but some of the team's older swimmers said this week that pool paled in comparison.
"I really like the new pool. It's just so much more space than we had at Morgan Park," Denfeld senior Tayler Boelk said. "We've got great facilities to use. The pool is awesome. We are so thankful that our community has helped us and given us this pool."
One of the biggest changes in the size of the pool, with swimmers saying the team finally has enough space to practice effectively.
"I love it. It's beautiful," Denfeld senior Trudy Quain said. "I'm so grateful that we actually got a new pool. We have enough lanes for all of our swimmers. It's just awesome."
The pool will be great for the Denfeld swimming and diving team, but its use will surely surpass that singular purpose.
"As excited as I am about this pool as a coach, I'm more excited as a physical education teacher," Denfeld head coach Linda Puglisi said. "This facility is outstanding, and to be able to educate middle school students in this facility and this setting is so exciting to me."
Duluth Denfeld's first meet in the new pool is scheduled for September 15 at 11:00 a.m.
