Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- With 79 teams and over 2,400 athletes in all, windy conditions and rainy weather didn't stop runners at the 62nd Annual Swain Meet at Enger Park Golf Course on Saturday afternoon hosted by Duluth East and Denfeld.

Lexi Erickson was the top area finisher in the Class A event in eighth place while Zach Smith was the top local runner on the boys side in fourth place. Afterward, both runners spoke about the day's tough conditions.

"I think it affected some of the runners," said Lexi Erickson, a freshman from International Falls who finished in eighth place. "It was hard, it was really hard, but I'm glad I'm here. It was great."

"The weather's perfect," said Zach Smith, a senior from Proctor who finished in fourth. "It's cool. The wind is tough, it's tough going up the hills and stuff with the wind. Otherwise, perfect weather."

Trinity School at River Ridge was the top Class A girls' school with St. Paul Academy in second and Mora in third. On the boys' side, Mora took home the team title with Northwestern in second and Holdingford High School in third and Esko in fourth.

In Class AA, Anja Maijaila of Cloquet was the top area finisher in 15th place with her teammate Dylan Marvel taking home ninth place.

The Forest Lake girls' team took home the Class AA title with Totino Grace in second and Visitation third. For the boys, Totino Grace was again the champion with Minneapolis Southwest the runner-up and St. Michael-Albertville in third.
