Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Recent Duluth East graduate Mia Anderson will board her first-ever plane in just over a week when she heads to Australia as a part of the North Central Conference team at the Down Under Hoops Classic.

Anderson, who played for the Greyhounds since seventh grade, is one of two players from Minnesota headed to Australia. The nine-player team is made-up of athletes from around the Midwest.

While the 5-foot-10 forward admits she's nervous to travel abroad for the first time, she's looking forward to meeting new people.

"I know nobody which is the fun part I think," Anderson said. "I get to meet new people instead of sticking around the people you know and not branching out. Especially meeting people who aren't from this country. Meeting Australians or whoever else is there."

The tournament runs from July 13-21.
