Hibbing, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The Ely and Deer River baseball teams will play Thursday for the Section 7A championship, that after the Timberwolves beat the Warriors once already in the section playoffs.

Ely beat Deer River 3-1 on Tuesday afternoon to advance as the unbeaten team to the title round. The double-elimination format means the Warriors will need to beat Ely twice to advance to the state tournament.

Deer River, meanwhile, then had to defeat Floodwood 10-2 to get into the section championship, where Ely will need only one win to earn a state tournament berth.

The first section title game will be played June 5 at 5:00 p.m. in Hibbing, with a second game to immediately follow if necessary.
