Jordan, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The Ely baseball team rallied in the seventh inning, but then saw New York Mills do them one better in the bottom half during Friday's MSHSL Class A baseball consolation championship.
The Timberwolves scored two runs in the top half of the inning, but the Eagles then scored three runs in the bottom half to take home the consolation title by a 3-2 final score.
Greg Helget and Cody Bialik had the runs batted in for Ely, which finishes the year with an overall record of (21-5).
Sophomore Will Gustafson pitched six shutout innings for the Timberwolves, but then was charged with all three earned runs in the seventh inning to take the loss.
Ely had beaten Kenyon-Wanamingo 5-4 earlier in the day to earn a spot in the Class A consolation championship.
