Chaska, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The Ely baseball team was beaten 2-1 by Lac qui Parle Valley on Thursday afternoon in the MSHSL Class A baseball quarterfinals.

The Timberwolves jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the game, but from there the team allowed the game's next two runs to account for the 2-1 final score.

Senior pitcher Wes Snyder pitched the entire game for the Timberwolves, allowing jus three hits while striking out 13 batters.

The Eagles scored the decisive run in the bottom of the seventh inning when Jared Rolland singled home John Weeding from second base.

The quarterfinal matchup was delayed more than five hours from its scheduled 12:30 p.m. start, but Minnesota State High School League officials were eventually able to get the field to a playable condition in Chaska.

Ely drops to (20-4) this season with the loss and will now take on Kenyon-Wanamingo in the Class A consolation bracket. That game is set for 10:00 a.m. on Friday in Jordan.
