Ely Wins in Extras, Off to State Tournament

Hibbing, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The Ely baseball team beat Deer River 5-4 in 11 innings on Thursday night, earning a spot in the MSHSL Class A state baseball tournament.

The Timberwolves did not lose a game in the section playoffs, including two wins over Deer River in the double-elimination format.

Ely will open its state tournament on June 14 against the champion from Section 3, with that game set for 12:30 p.m. in Chaska.
