Esko, Eveleth-Gilbert, Barnum All Advance

(NNCNOW.com) --- The top-seeded Esko boys' basketball team cruised past Aitkin while the other No. 1 seed, Virginia, fell to Eveleth-Gilbert in overtime, and Barnum snuck by Moose Lake-Willow River in the Section 7AA quarterfinals on Saturday at Romano Gym.

Esko's all-time leading scorer Kory Deadrick finished with 28 points as the Eskmos cruised into the semifinals, 66-40 over Aitkin. Esko will face Proctor on Tuesday after the Rails got past International Falls 84-65.

Earlier in the day, the Golden Bears ousted the Blue Devils 71-66 in OT thanks to 19 points from Mark Tikkanen. Eveleth-Gilbert will do battle with Barnum on Tuesday in the semis. The Bombers were led by Brandon Newman with 29 points in the 61-57 win over the Rebels.

The semifinals will be played on Tuesday, March 3 at Romano Gymnasium.
