Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- None of the players on this year's Esko girls' basketball team had ever been to the MSHSL tournament before this season, but after the team won its quarterfinal game every player says it's been a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

"Incredible," senior Erika Shady said. "I've been at state cross country many times and state track, but this is just a whole different atmosphere here being on the court. It's such a special moment and a big honor for us."

"It's just great to get down here in this atmosphere," freshman Ava Gonsorowski said, "just to have this experience with my team. It's special."

Esko will play No.2-seeded Kenyon-Wanamingo in the MSHSL Class AA semifinals, with that game scheduled for 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Williams Arena in Minneapolis, Minn.
