Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Esko boys' basketball team led at the half and never looked back as they routed Annandale 60-41 to claim their first MSHSL Class AA state championship on Saturday afternoon at the Target Center.

Senior Marc Peterson led the Eskomos with 16 points while Kory Deadrick finished with 14 points and Casey Staniger 13 points in the win. Matt Miller was the only Cardinals player in double-digits with 10 points.

The Eskomos are the first basketball state champions from Northeast Minnesota since Chisholm did so in 1991.
