Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Esko girls' basketball team started on a 16-4 run Wednesday night en route to a 39-35 upset win over No. 3 New London-Spicer in the MSHSL Class AA quarterfinals at Mariucci Arena in Minneapolis, Minn.

New London-Spicer battled back in the second half to take a lead, but back-to-back three-pointers from Erika Shady around the 5:00 mark put the Eskomos back in front for good.

Ashley Bergerson led the Eskomos with 14 points in the winning effort, with Ava Gonsorowski also reaching double digits with 12 points.

Esko will now play No. 2 Kenyon-Wanamingo in the Class AA semifinals, with that game scheduled for 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Williams Arena in Minneapolis, Minn.
