Esko, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Outgoing Esko senior Max Reinertsen has been named a 2012 recipient of the Scholar-Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year (SAMMY) award, it was announced on Friday.

Reinertsen is one of 25 students from across the country to receive a $7,500 college scholarship and be invited to an award ceremony at Disney World.

Reinertsen played four sports while with the Eskomos, receiving all-state honors in both football and track and field. Past that, he tied a Minnesota state record his junior year with eight touchdowns in a single football game.

The outgoing senior has excelled in the classroom as well, maintaining a 3.95 grade point average during his time at Esko.

The 25 SAMMY winners are chosen based on their performance in academics, athletics, leadership, and community service. All will also have a chance to donate an additional $5,000 to an organization of their choice.
