Esko, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Esko senior runner Marisa Shady has made a verbal commitment to Division I South Dakota State University (SDSU), which was the only school to which the Eskomos' standout took an official visit.

"I just fell in love with it," Shady said. "I love everything about it --- the coaches, the campus, and the team. They have an awesome nursing program there, too, which is what I'm going to be majoring in. It just seems like a really good fit."

Shady will run cross country along with indoor and outdoor track at SDSU, commenting that her senior year at Esko solidified her decision to run in college. She had also been considering playing basketball following high school.

The Eskomos' standout has won the past three Section 7A cross country championships, and in 2012 she led the Esko girls' team to a MSHSL Class A team cross country championship for the first time.

Shady will receive a full scholarship between athletics and academics to attend SDSU, and her official signing date will be sometime in early February.
