Esko, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Esko senior Savanna Trapp has verbally committed to play Division I college basketball at UCLA, the 6-foot-9 sensation announced via Twitter on Thursday night.
"The Final Rose has been Chosen!" Trapp wrote. "I committed to UCLA! I am Officially a Bruin! Go Bruins!!!"
Learning of the announcement, the UCLA women's basketball Twitter account posted a picture of roses with the words, "We accept. Welcome to the Bruin family!"
Trapp and Esko have played the past three seasons in the Section 7AA championship game, falling all three times to the Braham Bombers.
She added via Twitter on Thursday that she still plans to take her official visit to UCLA, which will come near the end of September. The Esko girls' basketball season begins with the regular season opener on November 27.
Trapp is listed on the 2011-12 team roster at 6-foot-8, but she said on Friday that she now stands at 6-foot-9 headed into her senior season.
