Gov. Dayton to Proclaim 'Bob McDonald Day' in Minnesota

February 10, 2014 Updated Feb 10, 2014 at 6:10 PM CDT

Chisholm, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Chisholm boys' basketball coach Bob McDonald is in his 59th year coaching high school basketball and is the winningest coach in Minnesota history, two big reasons that Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton will proclaim Feb. 11, 2014 as "Bob McDonald Day" across the state.

McDonald, who earlier this season surpassed the 1,000-win plateau in his career, has spent the past 53 seasons at Chisholm and has contributed much more to the community than simply coaching the high school varsity.

"Bob McDonald made a commitment to invest in children and young adults through the Chisholm High School basketball and Chisholm youth Saturday morning basketball programs," the proclamation reads. "In these programs, Bob teaches more than the fundamentals of basketball, he instills the values of hard work, practice, and teamwork. He wants his players to grow up to be fine young men and good contributors to society, and is well known for his expectations: he expects his players to be well-groomed, well-behaved, and respectful."

Governor Dayton will officially proclaim "Bob McDonald Day" on Tuesday, but the full proclamation can be found here.
