Grand Rapids, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Soon-to-be Grand Rapids junior forward Mitchell Mattson is one of 20 players to have been selected for the United States Under-17 select team, it was announced on Monday afternoon.

"Honored and excited to represent our country and play for team USA over in Crimmitschau, Germany #5Nations," Mattson tweeted following the official announcement.

The United States Under-17 team will participate at the 2014 Five Nations Tournament, which is scheduled to run Aug. 13-17 in Crimmitschau, Germany.

Mattson, who has verbally committed to play collegiately at North Dakota, finished the 2013-14 high school season with 11 goals and 26 assists for the Thunderhawks, helping that team to the Section 7AA semifinals.

The United States first game of the Five Nations Tournament is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. CT on Aug. 13 against Slovakia.
