St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Grand Rapids forward Avery Peterson was named Minnesota's Mr. Hockey on Sunday, an award given to the top senior skater in Minnesota boys' hockey.

Peterson, who will play collegiately for Nebraska-Omaha, finished his career with more than 200 points for the Thunderhawks, a school record. Peterson was also a sixth-round draft pick of the Minnesota Wild's last summer.

He racked up 37 goals and 30 assists this season for Grand Rapids. He's the first Northlander to received the award since Greenway's Gino Guyer did so in 2002.

Duluth East defenseman Phil Beaulieu was also nominated for the award.
