Greyhound Girls Repeat as State Nordic Skiing Champions

Biwabik, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The Duluth East girl's nordic ski team successfully defended its state championship on Thursday afternoon, edging Wayzata by a single point at Giants Ridge in Biwabik.

Annie Harvieux was the top Greyhounds finisher in fourth place, and she was followed by teammate Chelsey Youngberg in sixth place.

Other members of the state champion Duluth East team are Sophie Schuder, Ashley Herman, Katie Allen, Carolyn Lucca, and Alyssa Hess.

The Greyhounds finished with 372 points in the team results, one point ahead of the 371 tallied by second-place Wayzata.

Ely's Amy Bianco was also in the top 10 individual results, finishing in fifth place on Thursday.

DAVIS, 'HOUND SKI TO THIRD PLACE AT STATE

Duluth East senior Ryan Davis was the only Northland finisher in the top 10 at Thursday's state nordic ski meet, finishing in third place at Giants Ridge in Biwabik.

Davis also helped the Greyhounds team finish third this year, falling just short of successully defending their state championship from a year ago.

Other members of that third place Duluth East team are Geoff Ash, Bauer Lesavage, Luke Israel, Michael Chmielewski, Henry French, and Victor Pilon.
