Hawks Advance to 5th Straight Title Game

St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Scott Wasbotten scored two goals in the third period and the Hermantown boys' hockey team beat New Prague 4-2 on Friday afternoon in the MSHSL Class A semifinals, meaning the Hawks will play in a fifth straight state championship game.

Ryan Carlson and Kori Ochs also had goals for Hermantown in the winning effort, a game in which the Hawks never trailed en route to the victory.

Adam Smith was strong in the goal for the Hawks, making 25 saves to earn the win and allowing just the the two third period goals.

Hermantown, the state runner-up the past four seasons, will now play in the Class A championship game at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday against the winner of East Grand Forks-St. Cloud Cathedral.
