Hermantown, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Hermantown senior Taylor Sundbom shot a second day score of 69 to propel him to the MSHSL Class AA boy's golf state championship, the first title in Hermantown program history.

Sundbom finished the first day of competition tied for 9th place after firing a 73, but his second day surge left him one stroke ahead of second-place finishers Karter Smith and Jack Riester.

Besides being the first state boy's golf championship in Hermantown history, it also marks the first champion from the Northland since Virginia-Mountain Iron-Buhl's Casey Hill won the Class A title in 2007.

Sundbom's score also helped Hermantown to a second place finish in the team competition, finishing just one stroke behind the state champion Detroit Lakes squad.

Below are listed all the two-day scores from that Hermatown team, with only the best four being used to decide the team total.

CLASS AA BOY'S GOLF --- HERMANTOWN TEAM RESULTS
1. Taylor Sundbom --- 142
11t. Josh Becks --- 151
24t. Andy Krasaway --- 154
26t. Trent Sundbom --- 155
33t. Owen Stauber --- 157
83. Travis Weiss --- 175
