Hermantown, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Despite playing the past four years the MSHSL Class A championship game, this year's Hermantown boys' hockey team has surprisingly few players on its roster with experience at the Xcel Energy Center.
"We've only got six guys who played last year on the tournament team," head coach Bruce Plante said. "We've got a lot of new guys. It'll be a new experience for a lot of kids, but they've been there in stands watching. So they kind of know what it's like."
As far as advice for the younger players goes, senior captain Scott Wasbotten said it's best to just forget the situation and play hockey.
"The first game is the hardest one for your first time," he said. "Going out there and seeing how bright the lights are is way more emotional than you'd think it'd be."
Hermantown is the No. 2 seed at this year's Class A tournament and drew Luverne as a quarterfinal opponent, with that game set for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Xcel Energy Center.
