Hermantown's Danelski Wins Section 7 Ski Meet

Biwabik, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Hermantown junior Madison Danelski won the girls' Section 7 alpine ski race on Tuesday to punch her ticket to state while both Hermantown teams finished in third overall at Giant's Ridge in Biwabik.

Danelski will be joined at state by teammate McKenzie Bremel who finished in third along with Duluth East's Avery Plude who came in sixth place. Lucy Billings of Duluth Denfeld along with Marshall's Cara Hanson and Kristen Johnston qualified for next week's state meet.

On the boys' side, Hermantown's Matthew Borash was the top Northland finisher in second place and Virginia's Joey Marolt followed him in third.

Duluth Marshall's Jonathan Thickens came in fifth place while Cloquet-Esko-Carlton's Alex DeRocher and Duluth East's Alex Bianchi round out the area's state qualifiers.
