Mankato, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Kacey Herring threw a complete-game, one-hit shutout on Thursday afternoon to lead the Cherry softball team to a 1-0 win over Browerville in the MSHSL Class A quarterfinals at Caswell Park in Mankato, Minn.

Herring fell just one out shy of recording the fourth-ever perfect game in state tournament history, but she finished with 15 strikeouts and allowed just the one hit in the winning effort.

Logan Anderson provided the only offense of the game by knocking in a run in the sixth inning, propelling the Tigers to the state semifinal round.
