(NNCNOW.com) --- The top-seeded Duluth East boys' hockey team cruised by St. Francis on Tuesday night while Grand Rapids needed two overtimes to get past Forest Lake and Cloquet-Esko-Carlton fell to Elk River-Zimmerman in Section 7AA playoff action.
The Greyhounds jumped out to a one-goal lead in the first period before rattling off five goals in the final two periods to beat eighth-seeded St. Francis 6-0.
The fourth-seeded Thunderhawks used a goal from Alex Adams in the second OT to stay alive in the postseason. Avery Peterson also scored for Grand Rapids while Hunter Shepard stopped 31 shots in the win.
The seventh-seeded Lumberjackets nearly pulled off the upset on the road against the Elks before falling in overtime. CEC led by a goal in the third period but couldn't hang on down the stretch.
