H'town's Kolquist Commits to D1 Merrimack

Hermantown, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Hermantown, Minn. native Jared Kolquist has committed to play college hockey at the Division I level for Merrimack, it was announced on Twitter by the official account of his United States Hockey League (USHL) team.

Kolquist, a defenseman, is playing this season with Lincoln of the (USHL), having totaled one goal and six assists in 20 games played.

Back in the 2011-12 season, Kolquist captained a Hawks team that made it to the MSHSL Class A championship game and finished the year with nine goals and 23 assists.

The news was initially reported on Wednesday night by Mike McMahon of the Eagle-Tribune, with his report indicating that Kolquist is prepared to join Merrimack as a freshman for the 2014-15 season.
