'Jacks Take Third at Class AA Tourney

Mankato, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The Cloquet softball team won the third place trophy in the MSHSL Class AA state tournament on Friday afternoon, beating Maple River by an 8-3 final score.

Senior Shania Paulson was the offensive leader for the Lumberjacks, finishing 3-for-4 at the plate with three runs batted in.

Sophomore pitcher Chandler Beaupre went the full seven innings for Cloquet, allowing only two hits and striking out five batters.

The third place finish marks the best in Cloquet softball history, with the previous mark being a consolation championship in 2002.
