Barnum, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Longtime Barnum girl's basketball coach Randy Myhre has resigned his post after 33 years on the job, that according to Barnum principal Steve Brandt.

Myhre steps away from the Bombers with 626 career wins, third most among all Minnesota coaches. During his 33 years as the helm, he led his teams to nine MSHSL state tournaments and a Class A state championship in 2010.

Brandt said Myhre had been talking abut retirement for some time now and that the school was prepared for this news.

The longtime coach has a wife, Julie, and three daughters. His youngest child, Katie, will graduate from Barnum this spring and attend St. Olaf in the fall.

A search for a new coach is not yet underway, but Brandt said the job will be posted within the next week or two as the school looks for a coaching replacement.
