MIB state-bound; Barnum falls

In MN girls high school playoff basketball on Friday night, Mt. Iron-Buhl defeated Floodwood 62-55 in the Section 7A final played in Hibbing. Mt. Iron-Buhl improved to (26-3) and will make their second trip to state, the first since 1994. Mt. Iron was also a state qualifier back in 1978. Floodwood finishes the year at (24-5).

In Section 5A, the defending Class A state champion Barnum Bombers had their season come to an end on Friday night. The Bombers were knocked off by Sebeka 78-70 in overtime. The game was played at Crosby-Ironton High School. With the loss, Barnum ends the season at (26-4).
