Mankato, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Kayla Masessa hit a three-run, walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Cloquet softball team to a 4-3 win on Thursday in the MSHSL Class AA quarterfinals.
It was Masessa's only hit of the game, but it propelled the Lumberjacks past Mound Westonka and deeper into the state tournament.
Chandler Beaupre pitched all seven innings for Cloquet, allowing four hits and two earned runs while striking out four batters.
Lizz Jezierski had the other run batted in for the Lumberjacks, who improve to (15-9) this season with the win.
Cloquet will now play St. Anthony Village in the Class AA semifinals, with that game set for 8:00 p.m. on Thursday in Mankato.
