Blaine, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The North Shore rugby squad took third place over the weekend at the 2012 Minnesota state tournament, marking the best-ever finish in the program's 10-year history.
The team fell to Minnetonka 23-12 in a semifinal matchup, finishing the year with a program-best (7-3) overall record.
The North Shore team also had seven players named to the Minnesota Select Side all-star team, which will play games this summer against the best players from around the country.
Jireh Mabamba, Sam Torvinen, Andrew Kerr, Nate Beaulieu, Jerome Strother Jr., and David Chrysler were the players from the North Shore club selected to the state-wide all-star squad.
The Minnesota team will take part June 16-17 in the Rocky Mountain Challenge National Rugby Tournament in Denver, CO before returining to Minnesota to host a traveling team from California.
