Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- A well-played boy's soccer game ended with a mistake on Thursday evening, sending the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton Lumberjacks to their first-ever MSHSL state tournament.
Landen Straub kicked the ball in the direction of the Duluth Marshall goal in the first minute of the first overtime Thursday, bouncing it off a defender and into the net for the game-winning goal.
The loss devastating for Duluth Marshall, Section 7A's number one seeded team, and thrilling for Cloquet-Esko-Carlton, as they will now continue on to the state tournament.

The Lumberjacks are (14-3-2) this season and will now await the state tournament seeding process to be completed sometime this weekend.

ESKOMOS KNOCK OFF WILDCATS, ADVANCE TO STATE
The Esko Eskomos girl's soccer team will also represent Section 7A in the MSHSL state tournament after knocking off #1-seeded Chisago Lakes in Thursday's section championship.
The Eskomos, like the Lumberjacks, are now awaiting the seeding selection for next week's state playoff.
