Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The South Ridge football team qualified for the program's first-ever state tournament, beating Cromwell 20-12 on Friday night in the Section 5 9-Man championship at Public Schools Stadium.
The Panthers jumped out to a 12-0 lead in the first half, saw Cromwell rally to tie the game 12-12, and then scored the game-winning touchdown with just over four minutes left in the contest.
South Ridge will play its MSHSL 9-Man quarterfinal game at 5:00 p.m. on November 9 at St. Cloud State against the champion of Section 6.
