St. Cloud, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The Proctor baseball team ended its season on high note Friday evening, beating Fairmont 6-0 to claim the MSHSL Class AA third place trophy.
Ryan McCarthy had the big bat on Friday for the Rails, hitting a two-run home run in the fifth inning. Ben Nelson added two hits and three runs batted in for Proctor, and teammate Jimmy Merling also had two hits.
Matt Dolsen earned the win on the mound for Proctor, going six full innings while allowing only three hits.
The Rails end the season with a (19-7) overall record and the state's third place trophy in Class AA, the best finish in the program's history.
