Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Twelve teams from around the state gathered at Romano Gymnasium on Monday for the first annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Classic but Grand Rapids and Hermantown both fell in their games.
The Thunderhawks were the final game of the day but couldn't keep pace with Cretin-Derham Hall. Junior Alex Illikainen paced Grand Rapids with 20 points and 19 rebounds, but it wasn't enough as the Thunderhawks fell, 81-47.
Earlier in the day, Hermantown battled Rosemount down the stretch but fell just short, 76-71. Kole Zuidmulder led the Hawks with 20 points in a losing effort.
