Forest Lake, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The Grand Rapids baseball team won one of two games on Tuesday afternoon, good enough to advance the Thunderhawks to the MSHSL Class AAA state tournament.

The Thunderhawks first lost to Forest Lake 12-3 in game one of the Section 7AAA championship, but the Rangers needed two wins to advance in the double-elimination format.

In the second game, then, Grand Rapids regained its form and won 7-0, advancing to the program's first state tournament since 2008.

The Thunderhawks will open the state tournament on June 14 against the champion from Section 5. That game is set for 5:30 p.m. at Midway Stadium in St. Paul.
