Carlton, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The Carlton Bulldogs high school football program has been suspended indefinitely due to lack of players.
That news comes after Carlton forfeited its first two games of the 2011 season, and had fewer than 10 players regularly showing up to practice.
The Bulldogs forfeited their week one game against Hinckley-Finlayson and their week two game against Ely before making the final decision.
Officials say they will try to build the program up from the youth level, and hope to be back playing high school games within a couple years.
