Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- Wisconsin high school football teams were allowed to start conditioning on Monday, and for the Superior Spartans that meant the return of the annual 'Spartan Olympics.'

The competition is basically a fun way for head coach Bob DeMeyer and his staff to put the players through preseason fitness tests, but everyone seems to enjoy it.

"We also build relationships along with our skill and fitness," Superior senior defensive lineman Matt Hinaus said. "We learn how to be able to pull through to the fourth quarter."

Superior went (7-3) last season and qualified for the WIAA Level 2 playoffs, losing in the first round to Hortonville. The Spartans' first game in 2014 is scheduled for Aug. 22 on the road against Hopkins.
