Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- A playoff season in 2012 ended a three-year postseason drought for the Superior football team, and head coach Bob DeMeyer says that is the overall goal of his team as training camp begins this week.

Even so, DeMeyer also cautions that his team is not so much focused on that big goal this early in the season. Instead, he has them concentrating on smaller parts of the game that will lead to larger, team success.

"We don't focus on winning or losing," DeMeyer said. "We just focus on doing things right, giving our best effort every day, and improving every day. We do the little things we know will help us, and we know the winning and losing will take care of itself."

The Spartans went (4-4) in the regular season in 2012, earning the final spot in the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) Division 1 playoffs.

This season, Superior opens the year at home on Aug. 23 against Rhinelander, with that game scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at Ole Haugsrud Field.
