Spartans, Oredockers Compete at WIAA Meet

LaCrosse, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Superior, Ashland, and Hayward each had representation Friday afternoon at the WIAA state track and field meet, which was held in LaCrosse.

Hayward's Nick Melton was the only Northland runner to qualify out of the preliminaries on Friday, finishing 10th in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.65 seconds.

The two distance runners on Friday afternoon were Superior's Evan Walpole and Ashland's Bryce Miller, running races without a preliminary round.

Walpole finished 25th in the Division 1 1,600-meter run with a time of 4 minutes, 41.63 seconds, and Miller finished fifth in the Division 2 1,600-meter run with a mark of 4 minutes, 30.27 seconds.

Superior's Leah Holmes will be competing Saturday in the 3,200-meter run, as will Ashland's Marco Bichanich in the shotput and Bryce Miller in the 3,200-meter run.

Below are listed all the Friday results for Northland athletes, starting with the Superior Spartans in Division 1 and moving on to Ashland and Hayward in Division 2.
