Superior, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Superior sophomore swimmer Kaitlin Heinen has been nominated for athlete of the week bytthe Wisconsin Sports Network, that coming after breaking a program record that had stood for nearly two decades.
Heinen set a new program record this past week in a Lake Superior Conference dual meet against Duluth Denfeld, swimming the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:02.18.
That time was nearly a full second faster than the old record of 1:03.17, which belongs to Leah Smith and had stood since 1994.
Fans wanting to vote for Heinen can visit the Wisconsin Sports Network web site. Voting lasts until September 27 at 4:00 p.m., and users are allowed only one vote per day.
